Victim of conspiracy, says sacked Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee

New Delhi, July 29: Partha Chatterjee, a former minister of Bengal who was arrested in a high-profile corruption case, said today that he was a victim of a conspiracy.

After being detained as a result of raids that yielded a record-breaking 50 crore in cash along with other valuables, Chaterjee was sacked from all of his party positions and also removed from his cabinet position.

The 69-year-old, who is in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody, was transferred to a hospital today for a checkup.

When asked about the reports, he claimed to be a ‘victim of a conspiracy.’

Notably, five kilogrammes of gold jewellery and Rs 29 crore in unaccounted-for cash were allegedly discovered during a raid by the Enforcement Directorate at flats held by his assistant, actor-Instagramer Arpita Mukherjee, in Kolkata (ED).
