In the sixth round of an Elite Group C match for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Jagadeesan accomplished the feat against Arunachal Pradesh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by scoring a century off just 79 balls. With a partnership of more than 250 runs with fellow Tamil Nadu opener B Sai Sudarsan, Jagadesan was in imperious form as he dismantled the Arunachal attack on Monday.

In addition, Jagadeesan surpassed Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Devdutt Padikkal to score the most hundreds in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy competition. In the 2008–09 season, Kohli had four hundreds and led the batting rankings with 534 runs from seven matches at an average of 89.
In his sixth encounter, Jagadeesan has already surpassed the 600-run threshold. On November 23, Tamil Nadu will play Kerala in their final group-stage match, giving Jagadeesan the chance to extend his record-breaking accomplishment.
