Ranchi/Hazaribagh: Automobile businessman Vinay Singh, who is currently lodged in Hazaribagh jail in connection with illegal land deals during IAS officer Vinay Chaubey’s tenure as Deputy Commissioner, has filed a petition before the Hazaribagh ACB Special Court seeking his transfer out of the isolated “Anda Cell”.

Petition Challenges Isolation Despite No Violent Charges

In his plea, Vinay Singh argued that he is neither a hardened criminal nor accused of any violent offences, yet the jail administration has confined him separately from other inmates. During the hearing, the court directed the jail authorities to present relevant details from the jail manual regarding his confinement. The court will deliver its decision in this matter soon.

Background Of The Case

The ACB registered FIR No. 11/2025 in September in connection with the illegal purchase, sale, and mutation of forest land in Hazaribagh. Vinay Singh was arrested in this case and lodged in Hazaribagh jail. He is also an accused in the Jharkhand liquor scam case. His counsel, Shankar Banerjee, presented arguments before the court on his behalf.
