Surjit Singh

We all remember the name of Vinod Rai. A postgraduate in M.A (economics ) from Hindu College under Delhi University. A Post graduate in public administration from Harvard University, and former Comptroller and Auditor General of India.  Almost 13 years back he gave his stats of Rs 1.76 lakh crore in the 2G scam which shook the government under the leadership of former  PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. The CBI started an investigation. Telecom minister A. Raja was sent to jail. 41 persons were charged with criminal offenses. All the involved were acquitted on December 21, 2017, through the direction of the court.

The Court, in its observation, said that there was no scam. The Court waited but nobody came to prove that the scam was worth Rs 1.76 lakh crores. This is the same matter which shook the Manmohan Singh government and defamed the UPA as one of the corrupt governments. Rai held the post of CAG from  January 7, 2008, to May 22, 2013. In 2014 the Modi government came into power at the Centre. Rai was appointed as chairman of the Bank Board Bureau in 2016. This board recommends the central government on the appointment of the upper-level posts in banks. Above all, he was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2016.

What did the telecom sector get?

Loss of 1.69 lakh crores. According to CAG, 2G spectrum was a scam worth Rs 1.76 lakh crores but it could not be proved, but the deficit of the telecom sector of 1.69 lakh crores still exists. At the time when the scam was alarming during the UPA government,17 telecom companies were in existence which has been reduced to 4 now. Out of the remaining companies, Vodafone and Idea are on the verge of their wind up. The status of BSNL controlled by the government is also unhealthy. The closing down of  Vodafone and Idea will impact the loans of banks and also the general public. It seems that only two telecom companies Airtel and Jio will continue to be in existence. The survival of Airtel is also suspicious.

And now the ultimate consequence

Experts are of opinion that the telecom sector is rapidly going to be monopolized. This sector is rapidly generating employment, but this sector will be in hands of one or two players. The Telecom sector has data of more than 100 crore users. The only telecom sector which will exist will be Jio. Mukesh Ambani‘s other companies supply groceries, medicines, online education, fabrics, toys, furniture in our country. This simply means a monopoly on call rates and the internet of only one company. Along with data of your other activities. And you just keep on chanting Pagasus… Pagasus…
