Mumbai, Jan 10: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has released a remainder list of 301 feature films for the Oscars. The Indian films that have made it to the Oscars 2023 reminder list include Blockbuster’s RRR’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Kantara’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
Earlier, Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’ (Last Film Show) was announced as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2023. Marathi films ‘Me Vasantrao’, ‘Tuzhya Sathi Kahi Hi’, R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, ‘Iravin Nizhal’and Kannada movie ‘Vikrant Rana’. The list also includes documentaries ‘All that Breathes’ by Shaunak Sen and Kartiki Gonsalves’ ‘The Elephant Whisperes’.
Meanwhile, the RRR track Naatu Naatu is the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards. While the Oscar nominations are awaited. The film is also competing for two awards at the Golden Globes – Best Non-English Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu.
Taking to Twitter, director Vivek Agnihotri wrote, “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: #TheKashmirFiles has been shortlisted for #Oscars2023 in the first list of @TheAcademy. It’s one of the 5 films from India. I wish all of them very best. A great year for Indian cinema.”

The official Oscar nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023. The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, at Los Angeles’ Dolly Theatre. The TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the Oscars this year.
