Dhanbad, Dec 25 : The fate of candidates contesting in the Indian Medical Association (IMA) state election for 2021-22 sessions will be decided on Saturday evening.
Total nine candidates are in fray for four posts of the association including present President Dr AK Singh of Dhanbad and Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh of Ranchi, who are seeking their 4th and 3rd term respectively.
The counting of votes started at the IMA building at Karamtoli Chowk, Ranchi in the afternoon today. The election observers said that the result will be announced by Saturday evening. The election was conducted across the state on December 19.
First time in 21 years of Jharkhand IMA, three candidates have contested in the election for the president’s post. Besides Dr AK Singh of Dhanbad, Dr RP Srivastava of Bokaro and Dr Ramlila Agrawal of Jamshedpur have staked their claim.
For one post of vice-president ( Kolhan division), the fate of Dr KK Sahgal and Dr Vijay Kumar Bakhala of Jamshedpur would be decided by the ballots today.
Dr AK Lal of Jamshedpur had been unanimously elected the vice-president for the last two elections. But this time two candidates have staked their claim.
For the prestigious post of Secretary, the fate of outgoing Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh and his challenger Dr Prabhat Kumar of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi would be finalized.
Dr Ajay Kumar Prasad and Dr Ashok Kumar Singh, both of Jamshedpur are in contest for the post of Joint Secretary.
For fair counting of votes, Chief Election Officer (CEO) Dr Shambhu Prasad (president IMA Ranchi chapter) has invited all the district chapter presidents, secretaries and candidates to make their presence during the counting.
