Jamshedpur,Dec 29: Police and paramilitary forces have started carrying out anti-insurgency operations in a jungle under Goelkera thana area in West Singhbhum district since this evening following a mutilated body of a villager was found on Thursday afternoon.

The victim identified as Singrai Purty was killed after an IED was blasted at the jungle near Miridri village in Goelkera where he had gone to collect firewood along with a friend on Wednesday afternoon.

Following information about the death triggered by IED explosion, the police and paramilitary forces had on Wednesday evening tried to trace out the body from the jungle which is intensely naxal-infested.

On Thursday morning the police and the CRPF’s 60 battalion resumed the search operation and finally succeeded to find out the body.

The body was wrapped in a naxal poster which reads no villager is allowed to enter into this jungle and if anyone dares enter into the forest, then he or she will have to face the same fate like Singrai Purty.

After the killing of the villager, the people of the Miridri village and the adjoining villages were terror-stricken.

“Ever since we recovered the body of Singrai Purty who is a resident of adjoining Chhota Kuira village, we have started anti-insurgency operations in and around the jungle in question. The operations will continue until the confidence of the nearby villagers is not instilled, ” said West Singhbhum district superintendent of police, Ashutosh Shekhar while talking to lagatar24.com.
