Ranchi, Aug 18: The untimely demise of cricket administrator Amitabh Choudhary on Tuesday shocked every cricket lover not just in Jharkhand but across the country. From ex-cricketers to board members, people expressed their grief.

Former state cricketer Sunil Singh spoke to lagatar24.com and said that Choudhary carried the state cricket board throughout these years and it will take some time for the new members to take up the responsibilities as he did.

“The man had discipline and power and made sure that cricket in Jharkhand reaches a whole new level. After his passing away, it is important that the new members of the association work under an experienced leader like he was and learn all the skills. It will definitely take some time,” Singh said.

He also mentioned that it is very important for the association to start focusing on players at the grassroots level to develop world-class players from the state.

“We all are aware of where cricket in Jharkhand has gone in the last two decades and the veteran cricket administrator played a crucial role in it. I believe it is very important from here on that association focuses on the three channels (District, State and BCCI) and make sure players come out through it. It is also very important that every district in the state should conduct good quality tournaments in order to produce excellent players,” he added.

The vice president of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Ajay Shahdeo said that the untimely demise of the veteran is a void that can never be replaced. He said that they will work on his footsteps and do what he used to do.

“It is not easy for anyone to replace him and what he has done for cricket in Jharkhand. He was the guardian angel of the association. His group which he has trusted will carry the baton forward along with his legacy. The whole association respected him and we will work accordingly like he always wanted it to work,” he said.

He added that the India- South Africa ODI which is planned to be held on October 9 in Ranchi at the JSCA international stadium will be dedicated to Amitabh Choudhary.
