Chatra: Police today solved a blind murder case within 48 hours of the incident arresting three, including wife of the deceased Shaligram Upadhyay. Police officials confirmed arresting his wife Savitri Devi and two brothers-in-law. Sub divisional police officer Avinash Kumar said Savitri was the mastermind of this case who used her two younger brothers to execute this murder. He said the trio were arrested and sent to jail.
Kumar said Upadhyay’s body was recovered from a roadside hotel in Itkhori block on Thursday morning. He was stabbed to death mercilessly. Seeing the seriousness of this case, SP Rakesh Ranjan constituted a special investigation team led by Kumar. The team investigated this blind case and finally got the success. Kumar said the wife of the deceased turned out to be the mastermind of the murder. Police arrested the deceased’s wife Savitri Devi and two brothers-in-law, Rahul Kumar Pandit and Vishal Kumar a.k.a Ketu Pandit. Two mobile phones of different companies were seized along with the knife used in the murder, the blood-stained shirt and trouser of the accused Rahul Kumar.
Kumar said interrogation of trios revealed that not getting his sick wife treated and assaulting her mercilessly always had made the relationship of the couple bitter. Even they said Upadhayay, who used to drink alcohol every time was demanding a trailer from his in-laws. Kumar said all these reasons became the reason for Savitri to plan his murder.
As per the plan, the trio called Upadhayay to Itkhori and stabbed him to death by making him drink alcohol. Police took action on the written complaint of the deceased’s sister’s husband Bablu Das. The arrested Rahul and Vishal are residents of Unta Mor under Sadar police station area.
On August 24, the blood-stained body of Shaligram Upadhyay, a resident of Dudhori village of Sadar police station area, was recovered from Manoj Paswan’s hotel near Itkhori Chowk.
