Ramgarh, Aug 25: A herd of elephants killed an elderly woman today morning and started spreading terror in the remote area of Gola block under the Ramgarh district.
Villagers have demanded that the Forest Department team should initiate efforts to drive away the herd of elephants.
In the early morning of Friday, in Pathalgadha village of Sadam panchayat of Gola block of Ramgarh district, a herd of wild elephants picked up and thrashed a woman Ramni Devi, 65, who was going for defecation in the village. She died on the spot.
Former MLA Mamta Devi, former MLA representative Kamlesh Kumar Mahto and Gola Central East Zilla Parishad candidate Manoj Pujahar, reached the spot immediately, informed the officials of the Forest Department and demanded compensation.
