Ranchi, June 26: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday said that he will be announcing the bringing back of the old pension scheme on 15 August. The CM said this while addressing the audience at the Pension Mahasammelan held at Morhabadi on Sunday.

Notably, thousands of representatives of employees’ organisations demanding the old pension scheme were present at the general conference. The CM said, “Next time I will be at a conference, I will have the paperwork to announce the old pension scheme.”

Notably, the JMM in its election manifesto had promised to bring back the old pension scheme if he’d win. Sources have said that if the old pension scheme is implemented in the state, then more than 1.20 lakh permanent government employees will be directly benefited. Also, the vote bank of JMM will also be stronger for the 2024 elections.

At present there are about 1.90 lakh permanent employees in the state. In this, around 70,000 come under the old pension scheme. Earlier, Congress-led governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh had issued notification to restore the old pension scheme of 2004.
