Jamshedpur, Feb 1:  Winter is going to stay for some time now as IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre has hinted at a drop in minimum temperature. The forecast suggests fog and mist in the morning, a partly cloudy sky and later dry weather for the next few days.

For northern parts, a fall in minimum temperature is expected by 2-4 °C during the next four days.

While rest parts, no large change in minimum temperature during the next 24 hours, thereafter fall by 2-4 °C in subsequent three days.

Satellite pictures suggested that the depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal moved nearly west-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph and lay centred over the same region near latitude 8.4°N and longitude 84.3°E.

It is likely to recurve gradually west-southwestwards and cross Sri Lanka’s coast between latitude 7°N to 8°N during the forenoon of Wednesday.

Hence, it would not have any impact in Jharkhand. The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above means sea level now runs roughly along Long. 75°E to the north of Lat. 28°N.

Weathermen said a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from February 2.
