Ranchi, Sept 16: Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi in association with the Alumni Association of XISS (AAXISS) felicitated Biswambar Nath Naik who is on his ‘PARICHAY YATRA’ – Compassion with Purpose on Friday covering 1,400 kms of road journey by bicycle from Simdega to Delhi, connecting 1,000+ investors and inspiring 1,00,000+ minds.
‘Mor Mitti’ is a social initiative started by one of XISS senior alumnus Dr Minashree Horo and her team of Biswambar Nath Naik, Aseem Sinha and Daisy Rose Kerketta, to promote livelihood, local tourism, and build a sense of pride among local people by working on a model based on concept of ‘Roti, Kapda, Makaan and Internet’. They are on a mission to promote local food; under Roti, Kapda, they deal with local artisans produce and the handicrafts, ‘Makan’ signifies the concept for Rural Stay & ‘Internet’ is about networking with people and building large community to support these initiatives and promote local tourism and livelihood.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Pradeep Kerketta, Assistant Director, XISS said, “This is a wonderful concept this team has come up with and I congratulate the whole team of Mor Mitti and I wish Naik an exciting and safe journey.”
Fr Xavier Soreng, Superior, XISS gave his blessings to the Mor Mitti team and said this team is motivating people and making an impact in society through this great initiative.
Biswambar Nath Naik spoke about his journey and said, “Parichaya Yatra is started as a journey to build connections with people on our way as we explore local tourism, forest tourism and opportunities available in the rural area of Simdega. I hope I will be able to connect to people and someday Simdega will be known to people across India through our initiative.”
Faculty members of XISS, Dr Anant Kumar, Dr K M Spring, Dr Sharda Singh, S R Roy, Aayurshi Sahay, and representatives of AAXISS Jasbir Singh Khurana, Vice-Chairman, Himalay, Joint Secretary, Shweta Hansda and Zeeshan Jawed were present to felicitate and support the team of Mor Mitti and their noble initiative.
