Varanasi, June 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s helicopter made an emergency landing in Varanasi on Sunday morning following a bird hit right after the take-off.

According to the officials, the Chief Minister, who had just returned from a two-day trip to Varanasi, then boarded a plane for Lucknow.

“A bird hit the CM’s helicopter after it took off from here (Varanasi) for Lucknow, after which it had to land here,” news agency PTI quoted district magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma as saying.

The incident happened as the helicopter departed for Lucknow from Varanasi’s Reserve Police Lines Ground.

Earlier on Saturday, the CM visited Varanasi and visited the Kashi Vishwanath temple in addition to inspecting construction projects and law and order. He was departing for Lucknow on Sunday morning after spending the previous night in Varanasi.

Adityanath delivered online rural residential rights documents to 11 lakh families in Lucknow earlier on Saturday as part of the Swamitva programme. Adityanath handed out the documents and made a point of emphasising the creation of an independent state at a gathering held in the Lok Bhawan auditorium.
