New Delhi, March 26: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress leader and Rahul Gandhi’s sister, attacked the Narendra Modi administration on Sunday over the termination of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership.

She did so in response to the BJP’s accusations of dynastic politics against the Gandhi family and the Congress, asking if the opposition party would say the same thing about Lord Ram since he, too, was descended from a dynasty.

She said that the BJP’s harsh assaults on the Gandhi family were spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also mocked his Kashmiri Pandit ancestry.

Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra referred to him as the “son of a martyr” and said that the BJP constantly made fun of him, not even sparing their Nehru-Gandhi family, as the Congress staged nationwide protests against his exclusion from the Lok Sabha today.

“My father was insulted in the Parliament, my brother has been given names like Meer Jafar. Your ministers insult my mother in the Parliament. One of your CM said Rahul Gandhi does not even know who his father is, but no action is taken against these people,” said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Such people are not disqualified from the Parliament, they are not sent to jail, and they are not stopped from contesting elections for years. They have insulted my family a lot of times, but we kept quiet: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra pic.twitter.com/a8v0GZz6E9

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s national secretary, and Kharge, the head of the Congress, held a “satyagraha” outside Delhi’s Raj Ghat after the police refused their request to protest at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial.

She also inquired as to whether the Gandhi family should feel “ashamed” that some of its relatives.

Despite not having the police’s permission, she made her remarks at the party’s all-day satyagraha at Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi in the nation’s capital.
