Jamshedpur, June 19: Police on Monday arrested a 26-year-old youth Deepak Rao for allegedly killing a woman near Durga Mandir in Sankusai under Ulidih thana area in Mango.

Deepak, who runs a shop dealing in South Indian dishes, had an affair with the murder victim Nagi Lakra.

According to police, Nagi (32) wanted to marry Deepak who was opposed to the marriage proposal. As Nagi pressurised the youth to marry her, he murdered her by slitting her throat having called her to meet him near Durga Mandir at the small hours on Sunday.

The police had recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary before detecting the assailant.

OC, Ulidih thana, Sonu Kumar said that they got to know about Deepak Rao being the assailant after they had scanned through Nagi’s mobile phone.
