Hazaribag, Jan 29: A 19-year-old undergraduate student Akash Kumar has died by suicide after his father scolded him in the Keredari police station area in Hazaribagh. After receiving information, the local police has taken the dead body in their possession and sent it for postmortem to the Sheikh Bhikhari medical college and hospital.
Police officials said that the incident took place in Bengwari village of Keredari, around 45kms away from the district headquarters. They said that during the immersion of Sarswati idol on Friday, Akash had a fight with his friends. His friends came to his house and complained to Akash’s father Mahesh Paswan about this fight. Mahesh, later, scolded his son Akash in front of his friends on Saturday afternoon. This upset Akash, but he didn’t utter a word.
Later, on Saturday night, Akash committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan on his room. This morning when he didn’t come out of his room, family members went inside and found him hanging from the fan.
Mahesh has lodged an FIR against three of Akash’s friends for instigating him to commit suicide. Police officials said that they are investigating the case. Last rites of Akash were performed on Sunday after the post mortem.
