Jamshedpur, Oct 5: A 20-year-old youth was grievously injured as an alleged bottom bomb exploded at his home under Chaibasa Mufassil Thana area in West Singhbhum on Thursday morning.
The victim identified as Sao Banra was first rushed to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to RIMS by the police.
The impact of the explosion was so intense that his right hand was severed off and all the fingers of his left hand disappeared. The victim sustained grievous injuries in the legs also.
Sao Banra while talking to the police claimed that he had found a plastic box lying in front of his house in the morning. Out of curiosity, he reportedly picked up it and on opening the box a bottle was found inside. The bottle, however, exploded soon after.
West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Shekhar said that though the youth claimed it to be an explosion caused by a bottle bomb kept camouflaged near his house, the police found it altogether a different reason.
“The youth might have sustained injuries while making ‘sutli’ bomb. The box inside which the alleged bottle bomb was kept was lying intact. Instead a police team found ‘sutli’ lying at the spot, ” said Ashutosh Shekhar while talking to lagatar24.com.
The SP said that the investigation into the matter is on and things will be cleared further once Sao Banra recovers from the injuries completely.
