Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Police on Tuesday registered a case of murder against unknown after the body of a 20-year-old youth was found hanging in an under-constructed house in Parsudih late last night.
The deceased was identified as Pintu Das, a resident of Khakripara, a densely-populated urban slum Parsudih.
Though police consider it to be an apparent case of suicide, given the circumstances, they had to register the murder case as the deceased’s father Ganga Das alleged his son to have been murdered before the body getting hung there so as to make a case of suicide.
The deceased who was jobless used to consume marijuana and liquor. From the spot at the under-constructed house in Khakripara itself, things like empty liquor bottles, glasses and also ‘chilam’ were found, suggesting that the deceased might have taken liquor along with some of his friends before his mystery-shrouded death.
OC, Parsudih thana Vimal Kindo said they consider it to be a case of suicide as there was no mark of injury on the body.
“The deceased who was the only issue of his parents had come out of his house having breakfast at around 9 am on Monday. As he did not return home for the lunch, his parents tried to contact him over the cellphone. On finding it switched off for a prolonged period, the parents had started searching for him in the evening. But some of his friends when turned up at the under-constructed house for consuming liquor late in the night, they discovered the hanging body, ” said Kindo.
The OC said the only point suggesting it to be a case of murder is that no one tends to have breakfast or lunch if one plans to commit suicide.
“The deceased had affair with a girl and there are chances that Pintu might have committed suicide in sequel to the affair with the girl, ” said the police officer, adding that they have started an investigation after shifting the body for postmortem.
