Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has clarified that approximately 1.63 crore existing voters included in the state’s 2026 electoral roll will not need to submit any documents under the Special Intensive Revision process. These voters will only need to submit a duly filled pre-filled enumeration form and a recent colour photograph.

Mapping Process Reduces Burden on Voters

The Chief Electoral Officer congratulated all BLOs for successfully completing the first phase of self and parental mapping, stating that the process is aimed at reducing the documentation burden on voters. He explained that mapping done on the basis of the 2003 SIR electoral roll and previous voter lists from other states and union territories has provided relief to a large number of voters from submitting additional documents.

Door-to-Door Enumeration From June 30 to July 29

BLOs will conduct door-to-door enumeration from June 30 to July 29, 2026, during which the remaining unmapped voters’ self and parental mapping will also be completed. Voters whose names or whose parents’ names appear in previous SIR electoral rolls have been requested to provide the relevant details to their BLO.

Only Limited Voters Need to Submit Documents

The Chief Electoral Officer clarified that only a limited number of existing voters who could not be mapped and citizens seeking fresh voter registration will need to submit the required documents. The list of such voters will be released after the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 5, 2026, with individual notices to be sent by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer.

Easy Process for Migrant Workers and Students

Migrant workers, students, and other citizens living outside Jharkhand will not need to be physically present for the mapping process. Required information can be provided through family members, the BLO app, ECINet’s Book-a-Call facility, or the BLO’s contact number. The enumeration form can also be filled and submitted electronically.

Key Dates

Door-to-door enumeration runs from June 30 to July 29, 2026. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, 2026. The claims and objections period runs from August 5 to September 4, 2026. The notice and verification period runs from August 5 to October 3, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 7, 2026.
