The BCCI on Tuesday officially announced that Rajasthan pacer Ashok Sharma has been included in the India A squad for the ongoing triangular series in Sri Lanka, replacing fast bowler Yudhveer Singh who has been ruled out due to a right shoulder injury sustained during the tournament.

Who Is Ashok Sharma

Ashok Sharma is a right-arm fast bowler from Rajasthan who made a strong impression in the IPL playing for Gujarat Titans. Known for his raw pace, Sharma regularly bowls at speeds of around 150 km/h, which earned him his call-up to the India A squad for the Sri Lanka triangular series.

Yudhveer Singh Out With Shoulder Injury

According to the BCCI’s official statement, Yudhveer Singh reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling on June 13. The Board’s medical team has advised him to rest and recover before returning to action.

India A Struggling in the Tournament

India A’s campaign in the triangular series has been disappointing so far, with the team suffering consecutive defeats against Afghanistan A and hosts Sri Lanka A.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Heated Exchange With Sri Lankan Player

The India A versus Sri Lanka A match had ended in a tie at 265-265, leading to a Super Over which Sri Lanka A won. After the match, Sri Lankan player Wishan Halambaghe reportedly made a provocative comment to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, saying the match was over and asking him to go home. This sparked a heated argument between the two players before teammates and support staff intervened. The controversy was further fuelled by the fact that India A had already been penalised 10 runs during the match, and the Super Over was played in poor lighting conditions, drawing widespread criticism.
