Cambodia, Dec 29: At least 10 people were killed and 30 others injured after a fire broke out at the Grand Diamond City casino in Poipet town of Banteay Meanchey province in Cambodia at 11:30 pm local time on Wednesday.

As per information, Nhem Phoeng, chief of administration at the Poipet town hall, said that flames had not been brought under control as of the morning of December 29.
He stated that more than 400 people, the majority of them Thai, were trapped at the Grand Diamond City casino. The majority of the deceased were Cambodian and Thai employees.
He further said that the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
“As of 9:10 am, more than 10 people died, and over 30 of the injured were sent to a hospital in the Aranyaprathet district of Thailand`s Sa Kaeo province,” said Nhem Phoeng.
A volunteer with the Thai rescue organisation, the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, said that the fire started on the first floor but quickly spread along the carpets, leaping up through the multi-storey building.
The Grand Diamond City is one of several casino hotels located along the Thai-Cambodian border.
