Patna, Sept 20: Eleven persons have died in various districts of Bihar as a result of lightning and thunderstorms, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pledging a financial help of 4 lakh for each victim’s family.

In a statement released on Monday, the Chief Minister said that thunderstorms and lightning were to blame for the deaths of four individuals in Purnea, three in Supaul, and four apiece in Araria.

“My deepest condolences to the affected families. A compensation of Rs 4 lakh will be given immediately to the dependents of those who died,” he said.

In order to prevent accidents, the Chief Minister further urged citizens to exercise caution in inclement weather and heed the advice provided by the Disaster Management Department.
