New Delhi, July 10: A Purcell return winner slashed the line to open up a twin mini-break advantage at 5-2 in the title-deciding tie-break on Saturday. Another made it 9-2 as the Australians stormed past the finish line. After four hours and eleven minutes, an Ebden ace, the team’s sixth of the match, sealed the outcome, prompting the Australians to celebrate with a coordinated fall to the Centre Court turf.
“We were called in the early hours of the morning, around 12:30 am (2230 GMT),” said police lieutenant Elias Mawela after the shooting overnight Saturday and Sunday.
“When we arrived on the scene, 12 people were confirmed dead,” he added.
Mawela reported that 14 people had been wounded, with 11 more being rushed to the hospital. However, two of them eventually passed away.
The pub was located in the Orlando neighbourhood of Johannesburg’s largest township, Soweto, which lies southeast of the city.
