New Delhi, March 24: 14 political parties filed a petition in Supreme Court on Friday saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government is abusing central agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Indian National Congress, Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazahgam, and Rashtraiya Janata Dal are among the petitioners who are asking for pre-arrest guidelines.

Senior Attorney Abhishek Manu Singhvi brought the issue before Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud for an urgent listing.

“14 political parties have come together, seeking pre-arrest guidelines and their enforcement. Today CBI ED entirely being used against us,” Singhvi said

He said that opposition party leaders are the targets of 95% of central government investigations.

The CJI agreed to list the case on April 5.
