New Delhi, August 12: 140 police officers have received the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2023, according to a news release from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
15 of the individuals getting these honours work for the CBI, 12 for the NIA, 10 for Uttar Pradesh, 9 for each of Kerala and Rajasthan, 8 for Tamil Nadu, 7 for Madhya Pradesh and 6 for Gujarat; the remaining recipients are from other States, UTs and organisations. 22 female police officers are among them.
With the aim of fostering high professional standards in criminal investigation and recognizing such excellence in investigation, the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation was established in 2018. Every year on August 12th, it is announced.
The medal is awarded to members of Central Investigation Agencies, state police forces or the UT Police Force based on their exceptional performance during the investigation.
Online submission of recommendations is required for all eligible officers of the rank- from Head Constable to Superintendent of Police.
151 police officers received the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation in 2022.
