18,454 new COVID-19 cases in India, 26% higher than yesterday

New Delhi, Oct.21: In the last 24 hours, India has documented 18,454 new cases of the novel coronavirus, as well as 160 deaths from the infection. According to the data released on Thursday by the Union Health Ministry, the country had a total of 17,561 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 98.15 percent, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries data to 3,34,95,808.

According to ministry data, the overall number of active COVID-19 cases in India has decreased significantly to 1,78,831.

The country’s total death toll today stands at 4,52,811. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 59,57,42,218 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of October 20. On Wednesday, 12,47,506 of these samples were analysed.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses provided in the country crossed the 100-crore mark. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated the country on its achievement in a tweet, saying it was due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effective leadership.

According to official statistics, around 75% of India’s entire adult population has received at least the first dose of the vaccine, with around 31% receiving both doses. According to figures from the Union Health Ministry, it took 85 days for India to reach the 10 crore immunisation threshold, 45 days to reach the 20 crore level, and 29 days to reach the 30 crore mark.
