Chatra, May.27: On a tip off, a police team today arrested three extremists, including an area commander of Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) who are responsible for demanding levy in coal projects besides killing of a lifter. A special investigation team (SIT) constituted by superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan has arrested trio who are identified as area Commander Abhay ji a.k.a Chhotan Turi, Rakesh Kumar Singh and Mohd Takir Alam. The police have recovered two foreign pistols, a country made revolver, 17 rounds of live bullets, a bike, 5 mobile phones and many other items from them.

On May 6, Maithon Power Limited’s lifter Binod Kumar Giri was shot dead by the TPC militants near Kanta Ghar No. 01 located at Purnadih coal Project in Piparwar police station area of the district. The killing was done for the purpose of collecting levy and instilling fear among the coal businessmen.

Seeing the seriousness of this case, Ranjan formed a SIT team led by Tandwa subdivisional police officer Shambhu Kumar Singh. The team took the help of the technical cell. Ranjan said the team came to know that businessmen and coal traders were getting threatening calls for levy.

During the interrogation, the police have received important information regarding the TSPC organisation. Ranjan said the TSPC extremists were demanding levy by targeting the coal businessmen. Criminal incidents are being executed for not giving the levy, he added. He said the arrested extremists have also told the names of other people who are supporting them  from outside. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest all of them, he added.
