Dhanbad, Nov 15: Three senior orthopedic surgeons of Jharkhand, Prof. Dr Kailash Prasad of Dhanbad, Dr. Sureswar Pandey of Ranchi and Dr. NK Rajak of Garhwa district, were felicitated with ‘lifetime achievement’ award during the two-day Central Zone  Orthopedic Association of India (CEZCON 2020) which concluded on Sunday evening.

Dr Kailash Prasad is a retired professor of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad. Dr Sureswar Pandey is a retired professor of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi and Dr NK Rajak has retired as a senior medical officer of Garhwa district health department.

These prominent orthopedic surgeons have been felicitated and given the ‘lifetime achievement’ award for their dedication in the medical field and outstanding services in the treatment of patients.

“Of course I feel proud to get a lifetime achievement award at the Central Zone conference but serving the patients and providing them the best possible treatment was our mission, not for getting award”, said Dr Kailash Prasad.

Dr. Prasad served the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur and Patliputra Medical College Hospital (now Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital) as the head of the orthopedic department.

One of the faculty members of PMCH recalled that Dr. Prasad during his working day at medical college, used to bring advanced surgical equipment from his house to the hospital OT so that poor patients do not suffer.

The CEZCON 2020 conference was scheduled last year but due to the Corona pandemic, the Central Zone Association organized it in 2021. Orthopedic surgeons of six states; Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand are the members of this zone.
