Ranchi, March 29: Jharkhand’s 4345 Panchayat Secretariats will be equipped with internet and modern facilities.

Paved roads and a common service centre (Pragya Kendra) are among the amenities, as are an ATM, a payment bank, and an Indian Postal Bank branch. Aside from that, internet access will be provided via postpaid net connection cable and WiFi with a speed of approximately 100 Mbps. Electricity, drinking water, proper hygiene and sanitation, strong security measures, smart LED TVs, computers, and inverters will all be installed.

The Information and public relation department informed this today through a release stating that a blueprint has already been prepared for the same following chief minister Hemant Soren’s direction.

“This step is being taken to ensure that the rural pockets of the state are seamlessly extended the benefits of the services and schemes run by the state government,” the release reads.

“The state government will spend an additional amount to ensure the availability of basic infrastructure and maximum service to the villagers in the Gram Panchayat Secretariat building. This modernisation will improve the standard of living of the villagers by making services available at their place of residence,” the release reads.

Explaining why the state government has planned to spend additional amount, the release reads: “The amount of grant received from the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission to secure the implementation of the schemes is made available to the Panchayats, but the amount of the Central Finance Commission is spent under the guidelines issued by the Government of India. As a result, it is difficult to ensure continuous availability of services and facilities with the grant amount of the Finance Commission.”
