Dhanbad Dec 16: A three-day 46th annual conference of the Bihar- Jharkhand chapter of the Otolaryngologists Association of India ‘AOICON 22’ began with a surgical workshop at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) on Friday morning.
An international surgeon (Prof (Dr) Satish Jain, Director cum chief consultant department of ENT Hospital, National Institute of Medical Sciences University (NIMS), Jaipur inaugurated the conference by conducting a live surgery of a by-birth deaf and dumb patient.
Dr Jain was assisted by eminent surgeon Dr SP Dubey, who has conducted more than 1000 operations. Moreover, the specialists not only conducted operations in the surgical workshop but also trained and quested the query of junior doctors and ENT post-graduate (PG) students of Jharkhand-Bihar attending the conference.
The President of Bihar-Jharkhand Otolaryngologists Association, Prof (Dr) AK Thakur said that at the conference, ENT specialists from different states have come to share their experiences and discuss the latest development in treatment as well as surgery.
“The main aim of this conference is to provide a platform to the junior doctors and the PG students to get detail knowledge about the ailments related to ENT and also create awareness among people,” Dr Thakur said.
Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad, Superintendent, SNMMCH, Dr AK Barnbal and Dr Ashutosh, Directors, AIIMS were also present during the surgical workshop.
