Ranchi, April 7: There are 51 active cases of Covid-19 in Jharkhand but patients have mild symptoms and they are recovering in home isolation.
State Health Minister Banna Gupta informed about the number and status of patients to Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya during a virtual meeting on the issue. The health ministers of 25 states were present during the meeting.
Health minister Gupta urged the union minister to provide Covid vaccine, blood separation machine and other resources.
The union health minister asked Gupta and other health ministers to hold a review meeting with deputy commissioners and civil surgeons besides representatives of medical colleges and private hospitals on April 9.
The union minister also suggested for a mock drill to check preparedness on April 10 and 11. He also asked to review availability of oxygen beds, medicine, oxygen cylinders, manpower, availability of doctors and paramedical staffs in all districts.
Jharkhand health minister Gupta on the occasion demanded blood separation machine from and requested for ICMR approval for the RT PCR lab established in Khunti, Lohardaga, Koderma and Pakur. He also requested for new government nursing colleges in Dhanbad and Jamshedpur. Apart from this, he also requested a spare amount for maintenance of the PSA plant.
Though a discussion took place taking the preparedness to fight Covid-19 for it is yet to be ensured which variant of Covid-19 is active in the state and how dangerous it is.
RIMS microbiology department’s Dr Manoj Kumar directed the question to RIMS genomic department head Dr Ganesh Chouhan. However, before the Chouhan could be contacted for his comment RIMS spokesperson Dr Rajeev Ranjan on his behalf clarified that samples have not come to ensure the variant.
