Jamshedpur, Oct 18: Tatanagar railway station’s second entry from the Burmamines-end would become operational in a full-fledged manner from January next year.
Apart from this, the parking area outside the railway station would soon get a common shed which would help in preventing water logging during rains.
All such announcements were made by the new general manager of South Eastern Railway ( SER ) Archana Joshi, during an inspection at the Tatanagar railway station on Monday morning.
This was her first visit to Tatanagar railway station after becoming the general manager of South Eastern Railway. She was accompanied by senior officials of Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway as well as Chakradharpur railway division.
Making operational the second entry from the Burmamines-end will immensely help passengers coming to board trains from eastern fringes of the city which includes places like Sakchi, Agrico Sidhgora, Telco and Golmuri.
Currently, all passengers enter the station from a single entry which creates hassle during rush hours.
The new general manager visibly looked satisfied with the inspection. However, she instructed the authorities of Tatanagar railway station to further improve passenger amenities
While referring to media queries Joshi said that all efforts are being made for ensuring proper upkeep and hygiene of Tatanagar railway station, which falls under A-1 category.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI ) led by the new president Vijay Anand Moonka met the new general manager and handed over her a memorandum highlighting their demands.
The trade body demanded a direct train for Rajasthan, reduction in the platform ticket fare, improving punctuality of trains beside others.
