New Delhi, Nov.16: The number of Covid-19 cases in India dropped dramatically on Tuesday with 8,865 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 287 days.
The number of new cases recorded today is down 13.3 percent from yesterday. With this new statistic, India’s total caseload now stands at 3,44,56,401.
Kerala leads the way with 4,547 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu (802 cases), West Bengal (782 cases), Maharashtra (686 cases), and Mizoram (611 cases).
These five states are responsible for 83.79 percent of new cases, with Kerala alone accounting for 51.29 percent.
In the previous 24 hours, 197 people have died from the virus, bringing the total death toll to 4,63,852.
Kerala had the most casualties, with 127 people killed each day, followed by Maharashtra with 19 daily deaths.
In the last 24 hours, 11,971 patients have recovered, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 3,38,61,756 across the country. With this, India’s recovery rate has risen to 98.27%.
In the previous 24 hours, active Covid-19 instances have decreased by 3,303, bringing India’s active caseload to 1,30,793.
A total of 59, 75,469 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,12,97,84,045.
A total of 11, 07,617 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
