Ranchi, April 13: Days after the Jharkhand High Court handed over the investigation of the 34th national games scam to the CBI, a PIL was filed by Pankaj Yadav against former HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey.
Pankaj Yadav was among three petitioners who had separately filed a PIL to demand the CBI inquiry of the games scam. Pankaj Yadav who filed the PIL on Wednesday sought protection for him. He stated that Bandhu Tirkey threatened him for false implication in the SC-ST case.
Tirkey was recently convicted by the special CBI court in a disproportionate asset case with three years of imprisonment. He lost membership of the Jharkhand assembly and under the Representation of People’s Act, he stands debarred from contesting the election. Bandhu Tirkey is currently on bail.
The petitioner has requested the court to cancel the bail of Bandhu Tirkey and said that the former MLA can maliciously prosecute him for being a petitioner in national games scam case.
On Monday, a division bench of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad passed the order while hearing a batch of PILs filed by Sushil Kumar Singh Mantu, Surya Singh Besra of Jharkhand Against Corruption, and Pankaj Yadav.
Pankaj Yadav said that Bandhu Tirkey recently held a press conference where he openly threatened to implicate petitioners in SC/ ST cases. During the press conference, Tirkey said that he was prosecuted and punished under a political vendetta. He said that during the CBI investigation of the disproportionate asset case rumours were spread about his properties. Even the CBI conceded that there was no material against him but he was forcibly implicated.
Bandhu Tirkey said that he would file cases against such persons under SC ST act who damaged his reputation.
