Ranchi, Oct 12: A total of 1,73,000 students in schools in Ranchi are to be given the money for new uniforms as per directions from the School Education and Literacy Department. Of these, money has been transferred to the accounts of around 95,000 students. Officials at the district administration have claimed that money will soon be sent to the rest of the students as well.

Notably, the Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department’s former secretary before leaving the post directed officials to make sure that all children have the new school uniforms to use by November 15, i.e. the Jharkhand Foundation Day.

Additional District Programming Officer (ADPO) Kaushal Kishor in this regard said, “Not all children have an account in the bank. Money has been transferred to the account of the children who have an account. They have been provided Rs 600 per child for the new uniforms. In the case of the remaining students, as soon as their account is opened, the money will be sent to their respective accounts.”

Notably, the colour and design of the dress of the students of classes one to five and class six to 12 will be different now. Till now, the colour of the dress of the children of all the classes was the same.

As per sources, children were to be given the new clothes from the new academic session that was to begin from July 1. However, reports released earlier claimed that around Rs 84 crore allocated for two school uniforms each was returned to the state because the children did not have any kind of bank account. When questioned in this regard, state education secretary Rajesh Sharma had then said, “This responsibility has for now been given to the School Management Committees under JEPC. They will now take care of the uniforms.”

Navy blue coloured pants and pink coloured shirts with navy blue ties will be given to the boys of classes one to five in the state schools. Meanwhile, girls will be given navy blue coloured skirts and pink coloured shirts.

On the other hand, the pants of the students of classes six to 12 will be green and the shirt will be off-white and green in colour. The salwar of the girl students will be green and the kurta will have hues of both white and green while the dupatta will be green.

Talking in this regard, State Project Director Kiran Kumari Pasi said, “There is going to be a change in the colour of the dress of the government school children of the state for the third time. Initially, the colours of the children’s dresses were blue and white. It was changed in the year 2015-16 wherein the pants were maroon and the colour of the shirt was cream.”
