Mumbai, June 21: In the Maharashtra legislature, Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde has been dismissed as the party’s legislative group leader. This comes amid a political crisis in Maharashtra’s MVA administration, which began on Wednesday.
Eknath Shinde and 26 other members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly are locked up in a resort in Surat. He has not made touch with anyone outside the resort, and no one is permitted to enter or exit the premises. Nine additional MLAs are expected to join him at the resort, according to sources.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Kute, a Maharashtra BJP MLA, arrived at the Le Meridien resort in Surat, Gujarat, in an attempt to meet with the rebel MLAs. The BJP is likely to propose that all rebels be relocated to Ahmedabad.
Two messengers from the Uddhav Thackeray camp would be despatched to Surat to speak with rebel Eknath Shinde, according to Shiv Sena sources. Milind Narvekar, Uddhav’s senior aide, and MP Rajan Vichare are likely to be sent.
After sources suggested Shinde may persuade Shiv Sena chairman and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to ally with the BJP and abandon the Congress, the Congress decided to send its senior leader Kamal Nath to Maharashtra to deal with the problem.
Both the Congress and the NCP stated that the Shiv Sena will triumph over the issue, but that it was an internal affair for the party.
