New Delhi, Aug 7: Indian Boxer Amit Panghal wins Gold in the 48-51kg weight category defeating England’s Kiaran Macdonald by 5-0 in Commonwealth Games 2022. Earlier in the day, Nitu Ghanghas won the gold medal in the women’s minimumweight division by defeating her English opponent.
Panghal improved on his silver medal from the previous competition by defeating Englishman Kiaran MacDonald, who won silver at the European Championships, 5-0 in the men’s flyweight division.
The Asian Games gold medalist Panghal was the far superior pugilist despite being shorter.
Currently, the men’s triple jump final is taking place, while Indian shuttler Laskhya Sen is competing in the men’s singles semifinals.
Wrestlers Nikhat Zareen and Sagar Ahlawat will also strive to bring gold medals home. Several athletes will compete later in the day, and in the women’s cricket final, India will compete against Australia for gold. The contingent already boasts 40 medals, and they aim to bring home even more acclaim.
