Ramgarh: A freight train engine hit an auto at a gate without crossing which caused the death of the driver on the spot. The incident occurred late night of Sunday on the road leading to Chhotkakana village under the Barkakana railway junction area. No passenger was present in the auto at the time of the accident.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Balram Bhuyan alias Tuntun Bhuyan, a resident of Katelia Beda.
According to the information, the auto was crossing the rail line near the TRD office of the Barkakana-Muri rail section when the engine of an open goods train hit it and dragged it around 30 feet. The impact was so severe that the auto was destroyed and Balram’s head was severed from his body.
On receiving the information about the incident, Assistant Security Commissioner Barkakana Yogesh Yadav, RPF Inspector KK Paswan, GRP station in-charge Ram Kumar Ram and other officials reached the spot and sent the body to GRP police station and the auto was removed.
On Monday morning, the body was sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A case was registered on the statement of the father of the deceased.
The train was halted at the spot for about an hour due to the incident and later, it departed for the destination. However, the operation of any other train was not disrupted.
The deceased has left behind two children.
