Ranchi, Aug.16: The Jharkhand High Court has sought information from the Army Welfare Directorate regarding allotment and operation of shops at Sainik Market in the heart of Jharkhand capital.

The direction was given after one of the shop owners, Bhagwat Prasad, who was allotted a shop on lease from the army quota, knocked the door of court after he was asked to vacate the shop in which he was running his business.

The court has asked the directorate to provide information by August 22 to ensure further hearing in the matter on August 23.

During the hearing, the court was informed that there are hundreds of shops in Sainik Market and from those shops many are being allotted to common people while an ex-serviceman is being given notice to vacate the shop.
