Deoghar, Aug 19: Despite being famous for being the city of Baba Baidyanath Dham, Deoghar sees special Janmashtami celebrations every year with similar fervour.
Several ashrams here celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna here. One of these, Lila Nand Pagal Baba Ashram located in Jasidih has been celebrating the festival since 1967. The ‘Harinam kirtan, a prayer for Lord Krishna is organised by the residents here round the clock.
Situated at a distance of around seven kilometres from Deoghar, the ashram also known as the Pagla Baba Ashram was established in 1967 by Lila Nand Thakur.
Notably, at the time of the establishment of the Asharam, it was vowed by the founder members to organise non-stop prayer in the name of Lord Krishna for 108 years. The vow has been kept in every situation, and the Hari kirtan continues nonstop.
Notably, here four teams have shifts divided for Hari Kirtan. An idol of Radha and Lord Krishna made of ‘Ashta Dhatu’ is placed here.
On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtmi, a fair is held here which is visited by a large of locals and devotees from Bengal and Bihar.
