Dhanbad Aug 29: A delegation of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) met the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) PK Poddar and demanded action against SSLNT Women’s College examination controller and security staff for assaulting and stopping students from examination due to late arrival.
The delegation led by NSUI district general secretary Danish Raja and Gurunank College unit president Rohit Pathak in a memorandum to the pro-vice-chancellor alleged that due to traffic jams four students reached SSLNT Women’s College examination center one hour late. The examination controller not only stopped them from appearing in the examination but also got them assaulted by security staff.
The pro-vice-chancellor assured the delegation to conduct the inquiry and take proper action.
Gurunanak College had a center at SSLNT Women’s College for commerce semester-6 examinations today. Four examinees reached the center one hour late. As per the directive, the guard stopped them from entering due to being late.
SSLNT Women’s College authority said that students assaulted security guards for making a forceful entry into the college. “As per university examination guidelines, an examinee can be allowed a maximum of half an hour late arrival. But they reached more than one hour. In that situation they could not be allowed,” said the college authority.
However, NSUI general secretary Danish Raja said that they came from a remote area and were trapped in a traffic jam. “ We are pained that college authority not only got the examinees assaulted by security guards but also did not allow to meet principal for permission,” he said.
Danish Raja said that students would launch an agitation if the university fails to take proper action against the concerned authority of SSLNT Women’s College for spoiling the career of students.
Ashish Kumar, Aman Kumar, and Suraj Kumar were other members of the NSUI delegation that submitted a memorandum to the pro-vice-chancellor.
