Ranchi, Sept 1: The Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Priyank Kanoongo slammed police and state administration on Thursday over the murder case of Ankita Singh. He said if a child dies due to lack of proper treatment, it is the negligence of the government.
“I spoke to the child’s father over call. Police did not do proper hearing, proper treatment was not given to her. If a child dies due to lack of treatment, it is gross negligence of the administration and govt. We will collect facts on it and ensure action is taken,” said Priyank Kanoongo, Chairman of NCPCR.
“We will go there, meet doctors and family members of the child. We will investigate the whole matter and convey it in our report. According to service rules, stern action will be taken against people who deprived the child of her rights,” he added.
Talking about the incident he said, “Police concealed many things, quoted wrong age of victim for which the girl child did not get benefits of Juvenile Justice Act. It’s criminal negligence. POCSO Sections weren’t invoked. Yesterday on CWC’s demand they invoked it.”
Notably, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Priyank Kanoongo is arriving in Jharkhand on the two-day programme to take stock of the status of the death case of a minor girl, Ankita Singh, who died days after set on fire by her alleged stalker in Jaruadih in Dumka.
