Ranchi, Sept 1: The burn ward at the state-run premier hospital RIMS has been in the limelight for the past few days. At first, Ankita Singh from Dumka who was set on fire by Shahrukh Hussain was admitted to this ward where she lost her life.
An acid attack victim from Chatra named Kajal Kumari was also admitted here before being airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for better treatment.
The former CM of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi, in a tweet on August 31, mentioned that the four air conditioners present in the burn ward of RIMS are completely non-functional and have been a matter of concern. He also said that the father of Ankita had to buy a fan for Rs 600 and put it in the burn ward to provide some relief to his daughter.

In order to confirm this, lagatar24.com contacted the PRO of RIMS, Rajiv Ranjan, and was informed that not all but some out of the four ACs are functional. He also stated that the basic amenities that are required to be present in the burn ward are all present.
“Some ACs have been functional whereas some need to be repaired. We also have fans in the burn ward. Apart from that, we have all the basic amenities which are needed in a burn ward,” the PRO said.
He added that the air curtains which are used in burn wards for ventilation are also present and are functional as well.
The condition of the burn ward has been on the news for a long time. In April, TOI mentioned in one of their stories that patients suffering from 40 to 70 per cent burns are kept in the burn ward without any AC or fan and the attendants had to deal with the rough staff when asked about the facilities.
