New Delhi, Sept 1: In the second season of the Road Safety World Series, which begins on September 10, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar will captain the defending champion India Legends. The organisers, who had included the legendary batter in the first edition, verified his availability.

Tendulkar scored two half-centuries in seven games at the inaugural Road Safety World Series.

The 22-day second RSWS competition will take place at several locations. Kanpur will host the tournament’s opening match, while Raipur will play host to the two semifinal matches and the championship match on October 1. Dehradun and Indore are other locations.

The newest squad to compete in the Road Safety World Series will be the New Zealand Legends. The New Zealand players will compete with Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, and England during the event, which is primarily played to raise awareness for road safety in the nation and around the world. The organisers have not yet finalised their squads.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Ministry of Information and Technology, and the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India support the Road Safety World Series.

“The Road Safety World Series is a very good initiative to create awareness towards road safety through cricket. We want every individual in this country to be aware of and obey every rule and regulation while on the road and for that to happen, we have to create awareness among the people,” speaking about Road Safety World Series, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Government of India, said.
