Dhanbad, Sept 5: The forty-five-year-old Dhanbad’s Bharat Sevak Samaj (BSS) Women’s College has been in the limelight again for the wrong reason.
The majority of teachers of the institution has raised banner of revolt against the appointment of principal-in-charge Dr Subodh Kumar saying that he is junior to around 21 faculty members in the college.
The agitating group of teachers alleged that the probe committee of the district administration and university had declared the appointment of Dr Subodh Kumar to be illegal. In such a condition, making him the principal-in-charge by superseding 21 senior teachers put the action of Governing body (GB) secretary Pushpa Kumari in the dock.
GB has made Dr Subodh Kumar the principal-in-charge of the college in place of Dr Karuna, who is cuurently on a foreign tour.
“In 1996, the then secretary ML Das had sought appointment letter from all teachers of the college, Dr Subodh Kumar had submitted his appointment date as October 25, 1993, but the present GB has shown his recruitment year as 1992. It all shows irregularities in itself,” claimed a senior teacher.
However, Subodh Kumar refuted all allegations claiming that no one is senior to him and he had been Prof in charge since 2010.
“All teachers are temporary and no one is JPSC appointed. A move is going on to disturb and defame the college. The teachers who are involved in this campaign had problems with every governing body and had been dismissed several times. Every time, they returned after tendering an apology,” said Dr Subodh Kumar.
Dr Kumar said when Dr Usha Sharma, who is leading the agitation, was made principal of the college, three teachers were senior to her at that time but no one objected.
“Her appointment is also illegal as she has only 48 per cent marks against 52.5 per cent required for a teacher,” he alleged.
However, agitating teachers group claims that right from 2014 to 2022, senior Dr Usha Sharma (1982 batch), Dr Beena Dayal and Dr RK Sharma were assigned the responsibility of principal-in-charge. Dr Subodh Kumar was never made during the period.
“First Dr Subodh Kumar’s appointment is in the dock. Secondly, as per university guidelines, only teachers on sanctioned posts would be paid a salary. So it is a matter of probe that how GB secretary paid the salary to the teachers who are not on sanctioned posts,” said a teacher of the agitating group.
The sources in the college said that all was done without taking consent of GB president PN Singh (Dhanbad MP). The warring faction alleged that secretary Pushpa Kumari is creating all trouble.
Agitating teachers group has in this regard sent a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, vice-chancellor and chancellor (Governor) of the universities about the crisis in the institution.
