Jharkhand: Basant downplays electorates’ fury saying he went Delhi to purchase undergarments

Dumka, Sept 7: Having earned considerable disrepute for his controversial statements, Dumka JMM MLA Basant Soren again passed a disdainful remark to justify his absence from Dumka that has still not having recovered from the shock of the subsequent incidents of murder of two minor girls, including a tribal.

Basant Soren arrived here to meet both the bereaved families today. While talking to the reporters at his Khijuriya based residence, he downplayed his absence in Dumka saying he had gone to Delhi for purchasing undergarments.

“My undergarments had fallen short so I went Delhi to purchase them,” Basant said in his usual casual approach.

When asked whether he always purchased undergarments from Delhi only he replied in affirmative.

Earlier, Soren was in the eye of storm for stating that the victim schoolgirl who was set on fire by a stalker Shahrukh of her neighbourhood on August 23 for refusing his proposal for an affair with him, was having an affair with the accused.

Godda BJP MP Nishikant Dubey meanwhile has sharply reacted over his undergarment remarks and said they were so much insensitive towards the plight of the electorates.

“Time has come when Sorens will be driven away by the electorates without the undergarments,” Dubey quipped.

Notably residents took to the streets to vent their ire against both the crimes having hogged the national limelight with the accused in both the cases belonging to the Muslim community such statement by their elected representative is only to add fuel to their fury.
