Ramgarh: The last rites of Rupi Soren, mother of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, were performed at the family’s ancestral village of Nemra in Ramgarh district, with the Chief Minister lighting the funeral pyre.
Emotional Farewell as Village Mourns
The Chief Minister appeared deeply emotional while bidding farewell to his mother, and the eyes of the Soren family members, relatives and everyone present were moist. The entire village remained steeped in grief throughout the ceremony. Since her demise, leaders from various political parties and local residents have been reaching Nemra to offer condolences to the family.
Leaders and Officials Pay Last Respects
Among the prominent figures who attended her final darshan and cremation were Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, MLA Mathura Mahto, Shikaripara MLA Rajesh Kashyap, Shilpa Neha Tirkey, Mahua Maji and Mamta Devi. Several senior JMM and Congress leaders, party workers, supporters and local residents also reached Nemra, along with state government officials and administrative officers. The administration had made extensive security arrangements for the funeral.
