Ramgarh: Elephant herd tramples old man to death in Gola

Ramgarh, Sept 10: An elderly person was trampled to death by a herd of elephants in the Badki Sarla village of Gola police station area of Ramgarh district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Sawan Mahto, a resident of Badki Sarla, Patratu. The incident has created a panic situation in the area as the villagers are in fear.

As per the local residents, Sawan’s body was found lying on the ground early on Friday morning. The team of police administration or forest department reached the spot after receiving the information.

The villagers said that the herd has once again started creating a ruckus and damaging life and property in the rural areas adjoining the hilly area of ??Gola block. They demanded that the forest department should take action to drive the elephants away to prevent further loss.
