Daltonganj, Sept 11: Resentment brews among the doctors and other medical staff in the sadar hospital Garhwa said sources.

Notably, a large number of government doctors of Palamu have been transferred and posted in the Sadar hospital Garhwa which is seen as the cause of resentment. However, it is the government that has sent government doctors of Palamu to Garhwa.

The passage of doctors from Palamu to Garhwa saw two major shake ups here in the Sadar hospital Garhwa.

The first was the exit of the Civil Surgeon Dr Kamlesh Kumar, who has been replaced by Dr Anil Kumar, additional chief medical officer, Palamu who by order of the government holds the additional charge of the Civil Surgeon now.

The state health department notification, which replaced Dr Kamlesh Kumar with Dr Anil Kumar does not mention the new position of Dr Kamlesh Kumar in the Sadar hospital. This is something that the doctors are opposing.

The second reason is another replacement of the district reproductive child health officer in the Sadar hospital where Dr S Topno has been pushed off service and has been replaced by Dr Awadesh Singh, who has been made the deputy superintendent.

Sources said this change took place under orders of the DC Garhwa Ramesh Gholap.

Several persons have said the Palamu doctors sent there by the government are being seen as brow beaters by the doctors of the Sadar hospital and this is the cause of the chasm now.

Dr Anil Kumar, when contacted by lagatar24.com correspondent said that he too has been told of some discontent among the doctors at Sadar but it will be taken care of properly. The doctor said, “Our aim is to provide medical care and treatment to the poorest of the poor.”

Dr Kumar further said that the Garhwa DC Ramesh Gholap has very clearly instructed better and effective control and management of the Sadar hospital.

When asked if he found Sadar Hospital a mess Dr Kumar said, “There is always room for betterment and improvement everywhere.”

Dr Anil Kumar also said that it is the duty of every doctor to provide medical care and attention to all who come in the out-patient department. He further said, “We are further trying to ensure that out-patient department is not left unattended or the patient is tempted to seek medical attention at some private hospitals or nursing homes for a hefty premium.”

He said if there is indoor patient then it is the prime duty of the doctor concerned to visit him and take proper care of him medically. An indoor patient admitted can’t be left to his or her fate, reminded the Civil Surgeon.

He whipped, “What is wrong if we try to enforce 9 am to 3 pm presence of the doctors in the hospital? There are glaring instances of doctors skipping duty in the Sadar hospital. This has to be contained in the larger interest of all the doctors and the patients.”

“We get serious complaints about patients being frisked by touts to some private hospitals or nursing homes. This medical malpractice has to be curbed by all means,” he further added.
